Overview

The 2022 Meeting of the High Contracting Parties to the Convention took place in Geneva, Switzerland from 16 to 18 November 2022, in Room XIX of the Palais des Nations. It was chaired by Ambassador Zbigniew Czech of Poland.

On 19 October 2022, the Implementation Support Unit of the CCW circulated an aide-mémoire providing information on attending the 2022 Meeting of the High Contracting Parties to the Convention.

Universalization of the Convention and its ProtocolsEvent organized by UNODA Geneva, under the European Union Council Decision (CFSP) 2021/1694 of 21 September 2021 in support of the CCW.

This event seeks to deepen the understanding of the CCW as a whole and of each one of its Protocols. Brief presentations on the Convention as a whole and each of its Protocols will be given by the UN, the 2022 officeholders of CCW Conferences and experts. Furthermore, States that joined the CCW or a Protocol in 2022 will be given a welcome and speak about their experience and priorities with regard to the instrument they joined. Participants will be invited to share any interest, questions, or concerns regarding adherence to the CCW or to any protocol they are not party to.

Webinar on CCW Protocol IV on blinding laser weaponsEvent organized by UNODA Geneva, under the European Union Council Decision (CFSP) 2021/1694 of 21 September 2021 in support of the CCW.

This webinar seeks to review the particularities of the historical and negotiation processes that led to the adoption of Protocol IV, its relevance and the lessons learned from these processes to inform and guide ongoing and future developments within the CCW and other weapons-related discussions, including in relation to emerging technology.
