Overview
The 2020 Protocol V Meeting of Experts will take place on 28 September 2020 in Room XIX at the Palais des Nations. Ambassador Yury Ambrazevich of Belarus will chair the Meeting of Experts as President of the Fourteenth Conference of the High Contracting Parties to Protocol V.
The final report of the 2019 Thirteenth Annual Conference of the High Contracting Parties to Protocol V provides guidance and direction for the work of the Experts to be undertaken in 2020.
The main issues that will be addressed at the 2020 Meeting of Experts include:
1. Article 4 on “Recording, retaining and transmission of information” and generic preventive measures, under the overall responsibility of the President-designate of the Fourteenth Conference;
2. National reporting, under the overall responsibility of the President-designate of the Fourteenth Conference;
3. Victim assistance, under the overall responsibility of the Coordinator on victim assistance;
4. Clearance of explosive remnants of war,under the overall responsibility of the Coordinator on clearance and technical assistance.
