Second Review Conference of States Parties to the Convention on Cluster Munitions

Silence Procedure (June 2021): Following the general improvement of the COVID-19 health situation and the resumption of in-person conferencing activities at the Palais des Nations, States Parties agreed that the second part of the Second Review Conference will take place in hybrid format on 20 and 21 September 2021 at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.

Silence Procedure (January 2021): Due to the continued epidemiological situation caused by COVID-19 and consequent measures by Swiss federal and cantonal authorities, States Parties, through silence procedure held in January 2021, agreed that the second part of the CCM Second Review Conference will be postponed further until the health situation allows for the holding of the meeting.

Silence Procedure (November 2020): Due to the COVID-19 health situation, States Parties, through silence procedure held in November 2020, agreed that the Second Review Conference of the Convention on Cluster Munitions will take place in two parts: from 25 to 27 November 2020 in virtual format and from 4 to 5 February 2021 in hybrid format at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.

Silence Procedure (February 2020): At the Ninth Meeting of the States Parties to the Convention on Cluster Munitions (2 to 4 September 2019), States Parties decided that the Second Review Conference would take place from 16 to 20 November 2020 (CCM/MSP/2019/13, p.69). To respond to a number of logistical constraints, the States Parties, through silence procedure held in February 2020, agreed to move the dates of the Review Conference to 23 to 27 November 2020.

Pursuant to General Assembly resolution 74/62, the United Nations has convened these meetings by note verbale (English, French, Spanish).

An invitation letter was also addressed to the relevant international organizations by Ms. Izumi Nakamitsu, High Representative for Disarmament Affairs.
