Overview

The Preparatory Committee for the Third Special Session of the General Assembly Devoted to Disarmament was established pursuant to General Assembly resolutions 38/73 I of 15 December 1983 and 39/63 I of 16 December 1985. It met in one substantive session each in 1987 and 1988.

The members of the Preparatory Committee were as follows:

Argentina, Australia, Bahamas, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Japan, Mongolia, Morocco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, Romania, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Togo, Uruguay, Yugoslavia and Zaire.
