Overview

Pursuant to resolution 64/36 of the General Assembly of the United Nations and in accordance with Article 11, paragraph 2, of the Convention, the Secretary-General of the United Nations convened the First Meeting of States Parties (1MSP) in Vientiane, Lao People's Democratic Republic, from 9 to 12 November 2010. A note verbale by the Secretary-General on convening the 1MSP was circulated in April 2010, as follows:

PREPARATORY MEETING

Pursuant to the relevant decision of the States parties to the Convention, a Preparatory Meeting for the First Meeting of States Parties will take place on 6 September 2010 in Conference room XIX Palais des nations, United Nations Office at Geneva, starting at 10.00 a.m. The Preparatory Meeting will be chaired by the representative of Ireland.
