Overview

The Meeting of the States Parties (Geneva, 12 - 13 December 2002) decided on mandates for the GGE to continue its work in 2003 on the following issues: Explosive Remnants of War, Mines Other Than Anti-Personnel Mines, possible options to promote Compliance with the Convention and its annexed Protocols, and Small Calibre Weapons and Ammunition. The GGE had to report on its work to a Meeting of the States Parties to the Convention to be held in Geneva on 27 and 28 November 2003, in conjunction with the Fifth Annual Conference of the States Parties to Amended Protocol II.

The work of the GGE was undertaken in three sessions in Geneva during 2003, as follows: 10 – 14 March 2003; 16 – 27 June 2003; and 17 – 24 November 2003.
