Overview

The Meeting of the States Parties (Geneva, 18 - 19 November 2004) decided on mandates for the GGE to continue its work in 2005 on the following issues: Explosive Remnants of War, Mines Other Than Anti-Personnel Mines, possible options to promote Compliance with the Convention and its annexed Protocols, and preparations for the Third Review Conference. The GGE had to report on its work to a Meeting of the States Parties to the Convention to be held in Geneva on 24 and 25 November 2005, in conjunction with the Seventh Annual Conference of the States Parties to Amended Protocol II.

The work of the GGE was undertaken in three sessions in Geneva during 2005, as follows: 7 - 11 March 2005; 2 - 12 August 2005; and 14 - 22 November 2005.
