Overview

The Third Session of the Conference on the Establishment of a Middle East Zone Free of Nuclear Weapons and Other Weapons of Mass Destruction was held from 14 to 18 November 2022. Pursuant to decision (A/CONF.236/DEC.4) by the Conference, the President of the Third Session of the Conference is Lebanon.

President of the Third Session

Ms. Jeanne Mrad, Charge d’Affairs of Lebanon, Deputy Permanent Representative, Permanent Mission of Lebanon to the United Nations

Career diplomat with 20 years of working experience at the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and five overseas assignments, four of which she served them in multilateral posts, namely in Geneva, Vienna and New York, and which have provided her with an array of diversified multifaceted experiences on different levels. She had previously served as the Chair of the G77 Group Task Force on UNODC, Chair of the Arab Experts Group for UNIDO and UNODC, and was elected Chair of the G77 Group Task Force on UNIDO by the Asian Group.Chairing and coordinating the work of three Task Forces consecutively have made me develop my skills as a resourceful problem-solver, who uses her initiative and organizational skills to get the job done.

She handled IAEA matters during her second round in Vienna where she embarked in the details of the file in its political dimension through IAEA policy Making Organs as well as in its bilateral aspects through Agency's Technical cooperation program. Multilateralist to the bone, holder of Master degree in Law, she is proficient in Arabic, French and English.
