Overview

The United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research and the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs are seeking to facilitate an intersessional consultative meeting with interested representatives of commercial actors and civil society with the Chair of the open-ended working group on reducing space threats through norms, rules and principles of responsible behaviours, in accordance with paragraph 6 of General Assembly resolution 76/231.

The private consultative meeting will be held virtually on 25 January 2023 from 14:30 – 16:30 CET. The discussion will take place under the Chatham House rule. Interested representatives of commercial actors and civil society are invited to participate in this virtual consultative meeting.

UNIDIR and UNODA are committed to promoting the broadest possible participation in these consultations, from all regions. We are therefore writing to seek your assistance in forwarding this invitation to interested commercial actors and civil society within your respective States.

We are kindly requesting all prospective participants to register on Eventbrite by Friday, 20 January.

After the event, UNIDIR will prepare an anonymized factual summary report of the consultation proceedings, including the salient points of discussion and key take-aways. It will be published and promoted online in electronic format, freely available to the public.
